Hi Comrade!
We are excited that you are interested in joining our organization.
At this stage of our development, we are based in the Twin Cities, specifically Minneapolis. As a small and growing organization, this places certain limitations on our recruitment efforts. If you do not currently live in the Twin Cities area, we encourage you to sign up as a sustainer or make a donation to support our work. Your support helps us expand our forces and build the capacity needed to organize in new areas in the future.
Current Recruitment Focus
Our organization is open to all workers who share our commitment to Marxism, political education, and the struggle against capitalism.
At this stage of our development, however, we are placing a special emphasis on recruiting and developing cadre from People of the Global Majority (PGM), including Afro-American, Caribbean, African, Asian, Latino, Indigenous, and other historically oppressed communities. Our immediate goal is to recruit and train an initial core of twenty committed Marxists from these backgrounds who can help establish a strong foundation for the organization's future growth.
This focus reflects our belief that those who experience some of the sharpest forms of exploitation and oppression under capitalism should be encouraged and equipped to play leading roles in the struggle for social transformation.
At the same time, we recognize that revolutionary commitment is not limited to any one community or background. We welcome individuals from all sections of the working class who demonstrate seriousness, discipline, a willingness to study, and a commitment to building the organization over the long term.
Our current focus is therefore a question of organizational priorities, not exclusion. As the organization grows, we intend to broaden our recruitment efforts and expand our work among wider layers of the working class while maintaining our commitment to developing leadership among oppressed and underrepresented communities.
Recruitment Process
Submitting the form below does not automatically make you a member of Sankofa Communist Party.
After submitting your application, one of our comrades will contact you within 48 hours (though we usually aim to respond within 24 hours, and often much sooner). During this conversation, we will discuss your political interests, answer any questions you may have, and invite you to attend one of our meetings so that both you and the organization can determine whether we are a good fit for one another.
If you decide that Sankofa is the right political home for you, we will then begin the onboarding process.
We use this recruitment process because we want people to understand what they are joining and because we believe every comrade should be given the tools, support, and political education necessary to succeed within the organization.
What We Offer Members
A Safe and Respectful Environment
We are committed to maintaining an organization free from all forms of bigotry and discrimination. We do not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, gender-based discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual abuse, xenophobia, or any behavior that undermines the unity, solidarity, and camaraderie of our comrades.
Democratic Participation
We operate according to the principles of democratic centralism. Decisions are discussed collectively, debated openly, and implemented democratically. Our organization is built on the participation of its members rather than the authority of a small group of individuals.
Meaningful Work
We offer a variety of roles, responsibilities, and projects that allow comrades to contribute according to their interests, talents, and availability. Whether your strengths are writing, education, organizing, design, administration, outreach, or research, there is a place for you to contribute.
Political Education
We provide a high-quality structured political academy designed to develop members into knowledgeable Marxist cadre. Through study groups, writing and journalism workshops, discussions, mentorship, and practical work, comrades gain the theoretical and organizational skills necessary to become effective revolutionaries.
Community and Comradeship
We offer a space where people can build genuine friendships, establish community, and develop lasting bonds with fellow comrades. We believe revolutionary politics must be accompanied by strong social relationships rooted in trust, solidarity, and mutual support.
A Serious Revolutionary Organization
For those who wish to move beyond simply observing politics and take an active role in changing society, Sankofa offers the opportunity to participate in the long-term struggle for socialism. We challenge our members to grow politically, develop leadership skills, and contribute meaningfully to the construction of a revolutionary movement.
What We Expect From Members
Membership is not a social media badge, a discussion club, or a passive subscription. We are seeking individuals who are interested in studying, organizing, and contributing to the long-term development of the organization.
